You're a leader walking into high-stakes rooms: boardrooms, keynotes, ongoing team meetings. Your influence affects people's lives and careers, including your own.
But your stakeholders aren't buying it enough to move the needle. You walk out without the yes, and you're explaining to your team how you didn't get the goods from the board again.
This is costing you your reputation, promotions, budgets and ultimately it's not the meaningful experience you thought your career would be by now.
No one else has your expertise, you must know that by now, but your ideas aren't going to land unless you can move the people who matter most.
That's your gig as a leader: you have to be able to move people in a particular direction.
And before you move them into action you have to move their hearts, minds and guts.
At this point, the gap between more of the same and actually moving your stakeholders in the direction you want isn't about your expertise. It's about your voice!
HI I'M CRAIG DEUCHAR
I'm a voice teacher, public speaking and executive communications coach, actor and former criminal defence lawyer.
The many hats that I've worn over the past 20+ years - from theatre to courtroom to organisational HQ - have me uniquely positioned to train you to master the art of moving your audience with your voice, presence and storytelling.
This is voicework.
The gold standard of being able to move an audience is held by actors. They've known the potency of voicework since day one of drama school. They know me as a voice teacher.
All of the work that I do centres around the voice. Voicework fulfils all of the outcomes of public speaking and executive communications coaching but that's not even the half of it. If you're ready for it - voicework goes way deeper and can take your leadership to a whole other level.
Move your audience like an actor
The arena is different for leaders, but voicework fundamentally offers the same outcome to you as it does to a seasoned actor: discover more of who you really are in your work, form your unique point of view and learn how to express that in multiple contexts and ultimately deeply move your audience in a specific direction.
Can you imagine being able to do that to the level of a professional actor? What the response would be and what this ability would mean to you? Your leadership? Your people and your organisation?
There's an air of mystery around voicework because although it's well established in the arts, it's unknown in the leadership world. Voicework is clear and trainable. There are international associations for voice trainers, world conferences, scientific research, teacher certifications and more. A method I was trained in is taught at Harvard and Yale!
How It Works
How I help you train your voice in the art of moving your audience has
three simple pillars:
Voice
The voice is a whole-bodied physical action, not just a sound made in the throat and coming out of your mouth. It's created by our entire biology, and it's how we express who we are and our unique point of view, in a way that's completely unique to us. It's an instrument. And we have to learn to play it well.
If the body, the mind, the sound we make or the movements we inhabit aren't free to express themselves fully, we cannot be fully ourselves. Freedom of your vocal instrument is the goal that will allow you to express more and more of yourself - your own personal brand of sparkle necessary to genuinely move your audience.
Presence
Think of the charge you feel when a room's attention lands on you. That's audience energy. When your nervous system is grounded enough to process it, that charge becomes useful: your creativity, your spontaneity, your responsiveness, your attunement to your stakeholders in real time, both when they vibe with you and when they object.
It's a kind of hyper-presence, more than you'd ever have in a regular conversation, like an athlete in the moment when everything's aligned. We build that from the nervous system level up, so it happens automatically and you can be with your audience fully.
Storytelling
It's not enough to move your audience. You've got to be able to move them in a specific direction. That's where storytelling comes in. No matter what people may claim, there's no perfect framework to tell a story. You have to awaken your own felt sense of what works - your innate storytelling ability - so you can tell your story to your people your way!
Storytelling is how you influence people. If they aren't moved they won't remember you or keep you top of mind. If you create a memorable experience that moves them in a direction that helps them and you, you're a great storyteller. Or what you might call an influential, impactful leader.
“Working with Craig came at a pivotal moment in my career — I was stepping up as a leader, positioning for promotion, and regularly presenting to senior stakeholders. The timing couldn’t have been better. Right from the start, I loved working together.
Each session brought a real lightbulb moment. Through writing, rehearsal and reflection, I learned to sharpen my message, refine my delivery, and show up at my best under pressure. And the turnaround from writing a script to impactful delivery was quick, simple and frictionless.
What stood out was Craig’s approach — he didn’t just tell me what to do. He helped me uncover what was right for me, based on my role, context, and goals. This gave me the clarity and confidence to evolve my communication style and bring more of my personality into the room. This work has genuinely helped me level up as a leader.”

“If you are an established speaker and you want to hone and sharpen your craft, or you are an aspiring speaker and you want to build the skill, the art, of being able to communicate with large numbers of people and do that really well in a manner that makes you unforgettable, I highly recommend working with Craig Deuchar.
I recently completed his two-week corporate communication sprint. I'm a very good, natural, organic speaker, and I went to work with him because I wanted to develop a framework that supports what I do naturally so that it isn't as taxing when I am speaking.
I worked with him and we were able to develop a framework, a method for my speaking, so I was able to be present with the beginning, middle, and end. I was able to do really smooth transitions between them and not lose my train of thought. I've also got ADHD, so sometimes I find that quite challenging, which meant that my communication has become more clear. It has become even more precise and more moving.
Previously, I felt like I was always thinking about the next thing. Now I feel like I'm at one with the rhythm of my speaking. He also helped me with my cadence, so I know where to place more emphasis and where to hold back. It just helped me find the rhythm, the groove of my speaking.
What has happened since then is that I have been speaking in places and I've received emails whilst I am speaking because people are so moved by what I'm talking about, they want to book me for the next thing.
I went to work with Craig to support me with a fireside chat and that has supported how I show up on podcasts and it's also informing a really powerful keynote.
Again, if you are a speaker and you want to be world-class, I highly recommend Craig.”
- Tamu Thomas - Author, TEDx Speaker, Consultant
"When I met Craig, I had been presenting for decades but always behind the safety of someone else's idea or a performative professional mask (that had worked for me before). I thought I was starting the programme to help me master my message, but his approach has helped me sink levels deeper into recognising that I am an artist at heart and helped me explore some of the truest ways to express that in my purpose. For anyone who has been raised in a world of speaking 'shoulds' and rules, I wish you the joy and freedom of working with Craig."
